The world is in a precarious position because its energy systems still depend heavily on crude oil and fossil fuels, even as their environmental and economic consequences intensify. Global demand continues to rise, locking nations into fuel sources that drive climate change, air pollution, and geopolitical instability, while slowing the transition to cleaner technologies. This dependence creates a cycle where energy security, economic growth, and environmental health are constantly in tension, leaving governments and industries scrambling to balance short‑term needs with long‑term sustainability. The result is a world that knows it must shift away from fossil fuels but remains deeply entangled in them.
